Provides a safe, accommodating, and child-friendly space for victims, as well as a neutral, non-threatening space for investigators, victim advocates, and prosecutors to interview and meet with victims. Victim advocacy services provide support to assure that victims are supported throughout the entire process. Neutral, non-threatening space is provided for provision of therapy to children and non-offending family members if DCF has substantiated that sexual abuse has occurred. Team members include investigators from Vermont Department for Children and Families, law enforcement officers, victim advocates, prosecutors and medical and mental health professionals. The team also provides community outreach to educate and increase awareness of impact of these crimes on victims.

The unit has jurisdiction when the crime occurs in any Medicaid funded facility, including nursing homes or hospitals, or in any Medicaid-funded program or setting such as home health care or community care home settings.
