Vermonters on some pharmacy-only assistance also may not qualify. Only one Lifeline discount per household. Select tracphones (prepaid phones) are being added. It may take up to 3 months for the credit to appear on the bill.

Heating Fuel Payment Assistance
Helps with a heating crisis during the winter months if household is out of fuel, or very close to running out of fuel and has no money to buy more. Heating fuel may be in the form of coal, kerosene, natural gas, oil, propane, wood or wood pellets. Electricity that is essential in running a heating system is also included. Monday-Friday 7:45am-4:30pm: Telephone Local Community Action Agency for Crisis Fuel

Provides a 25% discount off the monthly charge for energy use (regardless of what the electricity is used for). This is an ongoing program with no time limit. Applicants must re-apply each year. The program also offers ongoing arrears forgiveness for NEW ENROLLEES. Once enrolled in the program, you must call to report any changes to your household income or household members within 10 business days. Failure to report changes will make you ineligible for the program and may result in legal action against you for discounts improperly received.
Provides limited financial assistance to help pay for past due electric and heating bills or upcoming deliveries of fuel. Available once every 365 days. Payment is made directly to utility provider.

Electric heat assistance is limited to households with primary heat source of electricity or electricity that is essential to keeping other types of heating systems operational. The Wood Warms Program provides two free cords of wood to eligible households that heat entirely with wood or that supplement their primary heat source by burning wood. All payments are sent directly to the fuel supplier. Households may be eligible to receive assistance from more than one program.

Services may include transportation to medical appointments, shopping, friendly visits and reassurance calls, chores and yard work, and homemaker assistance. Also provides medical equipment loans, as well as a modest home heating assistance fund. The only wheelchair-accessible entrance to Westminster Cares is the back entrance.

Does not provide assistance for gas vouchers, car repairs, internet/cable bills, or phone bills. Must have a disconnect notice for utility assistance.
