CIRCLE OF PARENTS | PREVENT CHILD ABUSE VERMONT

Provides a professionally facilitated, parent-led, mutual self-help support group program. The safe and confidential weekly group meetings provide an opportunity for parents to come together to give and receive support from one another regarding the experiences, challenges, and successes they have been experiencing while raising their children. Provides free Child care. In addition to Circle of Parents groups open to all, there are some for specific needs, including Circle of Parents in Recovery, Circle of Parents Group for Grandparents, Circle of Support for Moms of Color, Circle for Adoptive & Post-Permanent Families. Groups are conducted online. Support groups can be formed as needed that address experiences specific to particular parent groups such as single dads, single moms, teenage parents, parents of teens, LBGTQ parents, and parent(s) with disabilities. Individuals interested in volunteering should call the main number. Meeting duration is one and a half to two hours.

Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, a statewide non-profit child abuse prevention organization, provides child abuse prevention information; offers educational courses and support groups for parents; child abuse prevention workshops for professionals; and Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention training. Prevent Child Abuse Vermont publishes The Vermont Parents' Home Companion and Resource Directory, a guide to child development and a directory of child and family services organizations in Vermont.
