SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER CRISIS INTERVENTION | NORTHEAST KINGDOM HUMAN SERVICES
Provides a crisis intervention and assessment program that includes telephone or face-to-face consultation and assessment for admission to local and/or statewide residential crisis programs. Also provides crisis intervention referral services and follow-up. When deemed warranted by the emergency intervention specialist, individuals may be placed in a Public Inebriate Program bed, a safe alternative to incarceration for individuals who require ongoing supervision during withdrawal from drug and/or alcohol intoxication.

Eligibility
Individuals whose primary diagnosis is psychoactive chemical use, dependence, or withdrawal who are medically stable and who are in need of a safe and supportive environment for detoxification and stabilization.

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is the designated community mental health agency for Caledonia, Essex and Orleans Counties under contract with Vermont Department of Mental to provide acute and long-term behavioral health care services to people with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and other mental health problems, substance abuse and/or developmental challenges. NKHS provides emergency and crisis intervention services for adults, children, adolescents and their families; and substance use treatment services, including the Public Inebriate Program and the IDRP (Impaired Driver Rehabilitation Program).
