COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES | NORTHEAST KINGDOM HUMAN SERVICES

Provides comprehensive services to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other pervasive developmental disorders. Individuals are assigned professional service coordinators who are responsible for clients' Individualized Support Agreements, and for assisting them in achieving success in the community. Services include personal support and case management; specialized residential programs; psychiatric and medical care; vocational and skill acquisition training; family support services; and support services to individuals in nursing homes. Provides a spectrum of supported living arrangements to meet the needs of each person. Clinical services for individuals include provision of a psychiatrist to provide evaluation, medication checks, and after-hours consultation on medication issues. Also provides care coordination services. Flexible Family Funding is a secondary service that provides state funds to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families with support services, such as respite care, to enhance their ability to live together.

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is the designated community mental health agency for Caledonia, Essex and Orleans Counties under contract with Vermont Department of Mental to provide acute and long-term behavioral health care services to people with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and other mental health problems, substance abuse and/or developmental challenges. NKHS provides emergency and crisis intervention services for adults, children, adolescents and their families; and substance use treatment services, including the Public Inebriate Program and the IDRP (Impaired Driver Rehabilitation Program).
