Provides information about respite care, foster care, and adoption through the State of Vermont or through private adoption agencies. Singles and couples of any race, ethnic background, religion, sexual orientation, or income level can apply to adopt a child through the State of Vermont.

Fee
No fees are charged to adopt a child through the State of Vermont. Once the adoption is finalized, families may be reimbursed for the cost of having the home study completed. Also, an adoption subsidy may be available to help families meet the child’s ongoing special needs.

Programs and services include residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment program for pregnant and parenting young women, high school completion for pregnant or parenting women,comprehensive adoption and post adoption services, and a range of child and family services, including early education, Reach Up, and parenting education and support.
